HEY EVERYONE!

The team has been making steady progress since the TS6 Beta Launch. Today, we’re excited to delve deeper and provide a more comprehensive update on our current plans, outlining our progress, challenges, and overall next steps.

:dash:
HARDWARE ACCELERATION

We’ve made significant performance improvements in stream rendering and the displaying of streams. To reduce redundancy and improve resource usage, we are working on a peer-to-peer SFU (Selective Forwarding Unit), allowing us to send a single encoded stream to all viewers.

We’re also integrating OpenH264 for H264 support to ensure compatibility and efficient video encoding. Additionally, we’re actively exploring FFMPEG integration to offer true GPU hardware acceleration for further video processing speed and performance improvements.

Going forward, we’re exploring the possibilities for upscaling and artifact removal using technologies like AMD FSR (FidelityFX™ Super Resolution) or alternative techniques. This will enhance video quality and offer a smoother and better-refined viewing experience.

TS6 SERVERS & COMMUNITIES STABILIZATION

We are actively working on enhancing our server performance to ensure a seamless experience, even during peak usage. Our team is committed to optimizing stability and efficiency, and we appreciate your patience as we implement these improvements.

At this stage, the TS6 Server is fully compatible with both Windows and Linux.

Our efforts in stabilizing and supporting Communities has also helped us make significant progress in refining the TS6 Server itself. A big thank you to everyone who has purchased a community and reported issues to us, it’s been incredibly helpful in improving the TS6 Server.

We know many of you are eager to get your hands on the server and start self-hosting, but the server files are not ready yet. We’re holding internal discussions about the possibility of releasing an early access or beta version. However, we want to be transparent about the current challenges the server is facing as we work on these improvements. We appreciate your patience and support.

COMMUNITY PLANS & BADGES

We understand how important flexibility is when choosing the right plan and have received a lot of feedback asking for more slots/higher plans.

Introducing a Higher-Tier Plan: To accommodate many requests for larger communities, we’re planning to add a new tier with a capacity of up to 64 Slots (with a potential bonus bringing the total to 68). This is a direct response to feedback for more flexible and scalable community plans.

These changes are aimed at better meeting your needs while maintaining a streamlined and intuitive user experience. You can expect to see this addition towards the end of March.

We’d love to hear your thoughts & feelings on this community plan change and work together with you to make it better.

Communities Early Adopter (Limited Edition): We’re happy to Introduce an exclusive badge as a special recognition for those who directly supported us by purchasing a community within the first three (3) months of its release. Once three months have passed, this badge will no longer be available.

There’s still time left to be eligible for the Gold Limited Edition Badge, so make sure to get yours!

Communities Purchase: This badge will be a token of appreciation for participating and purchasing a TeamSpeak Community. All users who purchase a Community after the first three months of release will receive this badge, allowing you to showcase your purchase & support to TeamSpeak.

Both badges will be coming soon, and automatically assigned to your account if eligible.

SCREEN SHARING ON MACOS

We’re excited to announce that we’ve made significant progress with screen sharing for MacOS users, thanks to the hard work of our development team. While it’s not quite ready for a full release, we’re targeting the end of March for availability, pending further internal testing.

We appreciate your patience and continued support as we work to bring this feature to our MacOS users. We’ll provide further updates as we get closer to the release.

TWO-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION (2FA)

We’re excited to introduce Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on TeamSpeak, a major upgrade to your account’s security. With 2FA, you’ll benefit from an extra layer of protection by requiring both your password and a secondary verification code. This added step makes it much harder for unauthorized users to access your account, even if they manage to get hold of your password. By enabling 2FA, you’re taking a proactive approach to protect your personal information and ensure your account stays secure and private.

2FA is currently in the Alpha stage, and we plan to roll it out to everyone in the TS6 Beta soon.

USERNAME CHANGE & ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT

We’re making great progress on the username change feature and are actively testing it internally. While things are looking promising, we’re currently facing some technical limitations, particularly when it comes to handling renames for users with a large number of contacts. These challenges are related to ensuring smooth syncing and updating of all data. We’re working hard to overcome these issues.

Additionally, we’re working on features like account deletion and data download, which previously required reaching out to our support. Soon, you’ll be able to manage these requests directly on your own. We’re committed to giving you greater control over your data and ensuring your privacy is always a top priority.

WHAT’S NEXT?

This is just a glimpse of what we have planned for the TS6 Client. We have many more ideas in the pipeline, but our priority is to first deliver the most requested features and ensure a solid user experience.

We’re excited to share more details and give you an in-depth look at what’s coming next for TS6.

Stay tuned!
