Today, Czechs and Slovaks commemorate student demonstrations under the Nazi occupation in 1939 and against the Communist regime in 1989. Celebrated as Struggle for Freedom and Democracy Day, it is a reminder that life in freedom is not to be taken for granted. It was the so-called Velvet Revolution sparked by the student protests on November 17, 1989, that removed the shackles of the oppressive communist regime from our society. The return to democracy has allowed for the Czech and Slovak games industry to appear and flourish since the 1990s. The spirit and courage of the protests are still inspiring today. A special memory - thank you, Martin Klima of Draci Doupe and Warhorse!

Since 2020, we've been participating in Czech & Slovak Games Week, an annual event that celebrates games created by studios based in Czechia and Slovakia. Last year, 223 games from 92 game studios participated across a multitude of platforms, including Steam. We are happy to take part again with our top simulation titles during this week-long event.

We are honoured to partner up with so many fantastic and creative studios from Czechia and Slovakia. From legendary studios creating action and adventure to virtual reality games, we recommend you take the time to check them all out.

Like previous years, our talented 2D Artist, Anna Voříšková, has been the main driving force behind the beautiful artwork that themes this special games week. "This year, I wanted to put more focus on the actual Czech and Slovak game developers..." Anna explains, "by incorporating a (fictional) game studio into the artwork and showing how much joy game developers bring to people across the world. There are many types of players featured in the artwork - from console players, to people who game on laptops, gamers with expensive PC setups, and even Virtual Reality enthusiasts".

Anna has been creating Artwork for the Czech & Slovak Games Week for the past 3 years and we are really proud of her talent, time, and hard work. The Czech & Slovak Games Week takes place between November 14th and November 20th and features a number of discounts for locally created games across a multitude of platforms, along with digital events and online streams. You can check out the Czech & Slovak Games week Steam page right here!

Speaking of broadcasts, The Czech and Slovak 2022 Direct Showcase took place this week, maybe you heard about it? If you haven't already, you may want to give it a watch back, as you may just find a little surprise announcement from us there about an upcoming map expansion for one of our titles, enjoy!
